PDM Neptec congratulate Teledyne Impulse on meeting the stringent requirements to be awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification from Intertek Testing Services. The certification of both PDM Neptec and Teledyne Impulse demonstrates the companies combined commitment to quality and continual improvement for the design and manufacturing of electrical and optical connectors and cable assemblies for a broad range of harsh environments.

PDM Neptec also congratulate Aquadyne AS, as our Norwegian agent, on their recent ISO 9001:2008 certification from Det Norske Veritas. Aquadyne will be exhibiting at the ONS 2010 show in Stavangar Norway from the 24-27th August. stand 1209. Anders Hill and Louis Nyman will be there supporting Jan Erik Rygh from Aquadyne AS.

PDM Neptec have been awarded a three year contract with Trinity House to supply electrical cubicles for a new design of navigation buoy. PDM will manufacture a range of electrical junction and distribution boxes incorporating underwater cables and connectors that will be fully exposed to the hostile marine environment of the UK coastline. PDM's considerable experience of underwater cables, connectors, and harnesses has enabled this diversification into the wiring of electrical cubicles for harsh environment applications.

The new MKS 200 range of miniature and robust metal shell underwater connectors are now available from Teledyne Impulse. The design is based on the successful Titan series and is being launched as the MKS 200 series. It will be available as a 5 and 7 way dry mate connector and a 4 way wet mate connector with contact sizes from #22AWG to #26AWG. The series are rated at 10000psi mated with an open face rating of 5000psi for the bulkhead.

This underwater connector series delivers a robust metal shell configuration with considerable track record in an extremely compact size that addresses the relentless market drive towards miniaturisation. 

PDM are carrying out a study of cathodic delamination and other related issues in collaboration with Portsmouth University. The object of the study is to examine the phenomena involved and to optimise surface preparation & bonding.

Custom analytical techniques and trials are being used to study material performance. Substrate preparation, primers and elastomers are being evaluated as part of this work.

The stability of moulded assemblies under different electrical potentials and degradation due to micro-organisms is also being examined.

PDM enjoyed another successful DSEi Exhibition in September with visits from well established and potentially new customers from the UK and overseas. The area of most interest was in the recently expanded range of low loss underwater fibre optic connectors which were featured on the PDM stand.
