  PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Almost all moulded or encapsulated products require the elastomer, at some point in the construction of an assembly, to bond to another material. To obtain a high strength reliable bond, special primers are frequently used. PDM market a number of primers which permit its elastomers to be effectively bonded to almost any substrate.

When attempting to obtain a reliable bond to a substrate the surface preparation is critical. Some substrates will require a different preparation technique to others. Because the quality of the substrate preparation is so critical to primer performance it is impossible to give precise figures for bond strength. However listed below for each primer is a typical peel strength figure which is consistently achieved or exceeded at PDM. The test method is essentially a 25mm wide 90deg peel test devised by PDM - Ref. PDM/S/0013.

PDM Instruction Sheets and Safety Data Sheets are available for, and supplied with, each of these primers. The Instruction Sheets give details for surface preparation, mixing and application of the primers. Because these materials are of a hazardous nature, the safety considerations given in the Safety Data Sheets should be observed at all times.
